Forensic Geolocation via Biological Signatures

The Department of Defense has awarded NCSU with funding to develop methods to identify the geographic origin of materials using advanced analysis of environmental DNA signatures, i.e. fungi and plants. The primary scope of the project is to develop, test and deliver a customized laboratory method, interpretation software, and reference database for forensic geolocation.. The effort is lead by Prof Seth Faith (Forensic Sciences Institute) and includes Dr. Reich.
